Citizen support. The centre will be located in the Jardins de Cal Sèbio, in the Marina de Port neighbourhood in Sants-Montjuïc.

Building work has begun on the city’s first Comprehensive Care Centre (CAI), which will be located in the Jardins de Cal Sèbio, in Marina de Port. Promoted under the Neighbourhood Plan, the facility is part of a municipal move to bring citizen care services together from a community perspective.

The CAI in Marina de Port provides a single roof for the Social Services Centre and the Women’s Information and Support Point (PIAD), one of the facilities for the Vila Veïna project and various spaces for local people and organisations to participate.

The new building has a construction budget of 3.43 million euros, while the urban renewal to the surrounding area represents a further 577,000 euros. In all, 4.04 million euros for a project which is due for completion in October 2022.

Sustainability criteria

The new facility will be located in the Jardins de Cal Sèbio, which will also be partially reurbanised to help the building fit in with its surroundings better. The design for the four façades of the stand-alone building should provide as much natural light and cross-ventilation as possible, meaning greater comfort inside and considerably reducing the demand for energy. The construction follows sustainability criteria for the full lifecycle, with elements to reduce the environmental impact and the inclusion of a green rooftop, also representing a reduction in CO2 emissions.

The structure of the building is divided into a semi-underground floor, with various spaces for activities organised at the centre, a ground floor open to the public with two different entrances (one for the Social Services Centre and the other for the Vila Veïna space), a first floor also open to the public with fifteen individual care rooms, and a second floor for social services staff.
